changed my life? by D. Ruiz
I read this book almost two years ago and am constantly recommending it to people. For some odd reason, I don’t give this book all the credit for my weight loss. (I’ve lost 60 lbs and have kept it off for a year.) The book does have some concrete diet tips like suggesting to only eat 50 percent of your normal portion and only eating things that taste good. What I really liked about this book was that it looked at why you eat. I really believe this book changed the way I look at food. The book helps you to realize that a lot of eating is done to try and solve other problems. It is crazy, the day you reach into the fridge and ask yourself “Why am I eating?” and you recognize that it has nothing to do with hunger and close the door.
I know I overeat … this book has helped me understand by C. Easter
why I eat because I’ve never taken the time to stop and analyze the reasons. It’s one thing to say I eat when I’m lonely, stressed, mad, etc. It’s absolutely eye-opening to learn how to stop to recognize what’s coming and have a plan for getting through the moment. This book has been very helpful to me.
Don’t Waste Your Money by S. D. York
Was this written for morons? It’s like “The Secret” scam - another study in the Bloody Obvious. Think about how you feel before you eat - there, I just recapped the entire book and now you don’t have to buy it! There are actual people who are in the field for a reason and have the statical and factual information to back up their theories - which make sense! This is written by a nurse who likes to binge on noodle casseroles and finally figured out she was sad. Give me a break - Give us all a break! Overcoming Binge Eating by Christopher Fairburn is the gospel in the field and I’ve never read anything as impactful as this book. If you’re serious about getting control of eating, this is what you need to be reading.
One of the very best losing guides out there by Serious reader
I’ve read many books about losing weight and emotional issues that are interrelated. This one hits the mark perfectly. It’s not a book that will tell you what to eat. It’s a book that will guide you on a journey of why you overeat and what to do about it. It has very practical suggestions on how to figure out what it is that’s causing you to run to food because you feel tired, angry, lonely, depressed, and all the other reasons we’ve turned to food to solve life problems. It’s not about doing therapy. It’s about thinking deeply about your own life. I found the author sensible, caring, and very knowledgeable. This is about getting real! This is for adults who are serious. There is something here for everyone. A keeper that I’ll refer to many times.
